How to put together an earth tone color palette
Looking to create your own earth tone color palette? Use the 5 palettes provided in this blog to inspire you. You can go in many directions but the main colors of an earth tone palette are neutrals, muted blues and muted greens. The neutrals can be more on the grey side (symbolising rocks and mountains) or more on the warm and golden side (symbolising sand, grains, timber, and the sun).

Using the color codes from the inspiration palettes
Every color has a (hex)code beneath the swatch, which you can use directly in your prefered design software. Canva being the most used one, but you can also add the code in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and more. You’re free to implement these palettes as you wish. You can use a complete palette as-is in your project, or mix and match different colors to create a custom palette. The only thing that is not allowed is reposting these palettes on your own channels claiming they are yours.
Also feel free to pin them to your own pinterest boards for quick acces.
Quiet forest life
This first one might just be my favourite of the bunch. I’m an autumn girlie so I love the combination of green and the beautiful golden brown colors of autumn leaves. This palette is great for when you’re looking for a warming color palette with natural tones.
Paradise on earth
Now this next palette makes me want to go on a holiday ASAP! I was inspired by this gorgeous image of palm trees at a beach. The beautiful medium blue color of the sky combined with the green leaves and the sand colored trees. An amazingly vibrant color palette while still having that natural earthy feel.
Earth tone color palette ‘Adventure’
I wanted to add a palette that has a lot of blue and grey earth tones and came up with this powerful combination. I can already see the color scheme being used for a hiking blog or an outdoor apparel company. It literally makes me want to go explore and go on an adventure. 🙂
Golden hour
Looking for soft earth tones? This might be the palette for you. Soft and natural golden brown colors that remind me of golden hour photograhy. This would also make a beautiful wedding color palette.
‘Natural greens’ earth tone color palette
My last palette combines all the earth tones in one. We’ve got some light sand tones, some greens, and a beautiful muted blue one. The earth, the trees and the sky are all represented. This is a color scheme I would love to use for a webdesign, with the dark green and blue as background colors alternating with white. The beige color would be a great button color.
