Making nut butter at home, I love it! And it’s hilariously simple. The combination of walnuts with pumpkin spice makes this a delightful autumn treat. Enjoy it on bread, a cracker, over a smoothie bowl, as cake filling, or stirred into buttercream.

The recipe is easy and only contains 3 ingredients.

Homemade healthy walnut butter

Homemade healthy walnut butter

A delicious and healthy nut butter to spread over toast, pancakes or drizzle over your yoghurt bowl.

Ingredients

  • 200 to 300 grams of raw unsalted walnuts
  • 1,5 teaspoon pumpin spice mix
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

      1. Briefly roast the walnuts in the oven or a skillet.
      2. Place them in your food processor along with the pumpkin spice and salt, and grind them finely on the highest setting. At some point, the crumbs will stick to the sides; scrape them off with a silicone spatula and mix again. After a few minutes, the crumbs will transform into a
        spreadable consistency.
      3. If your nut butter remains a bit thick/dry, you can add a small (small!) splash of oil.
      4. Done! Store the nut butter in a sealed jar at room temperature.

How to use the walnut butter

You can use the walnut butter in many different ways. For example, drizzle a little over my gluten-free brownies, use it as a filling in your cakes or cupcakes, combine it with your granola breakfast, or use it in a banana smoothie, among other things. But it’s also simply delicious on top of a cracker or toast.
